Carlos J. Ramsey’s interest and devotion to the film industry began as a small child. In high school, he spent all of his extracurricular time in drama clubs, literary clubs and traveling to compete in literary events. Carlos’ talents in editing, directing, producing and his wins in dramatic interpretation competitions and several short film contests generated interest and advice from a talent agent at Endeavor, one of the largest agencies in the world.  Following his dreams,  Carlos moved to Atlanta, Georgia to attend art school and pursue his career in film.

In 2002, while in school, Carlos befriended Dwayne Beckless and they founded Made You Look Films.  Because of  Carlos’ several national awards and honors, Carlos was nicknamed “Baby Hype” by classmates, parodying director Hype Williams. “Baby Hype” proved to be prophetic in that Carlos worked on several of Hype William’s videos and absorbed some of what had made Hype a renowned director. Carlos also worked with music star Usher and music manager Benny Medina on a behind-the-scenes documentary showing Usher learning to tap dance.  Carlos possesses a unique ability to combine sleek, dynamic visuals with compelling storytelling and propels both with music, which has made him a much sought after director and editor.

Dwayne Beckless brought an unparalleled work ethic as well as many networking opportunities to Made You Look Films.  Both Carlos and Dwayne have built an extensive portfolio gaining real-world experience on the set of big budget films such as Stroke of Genius and The Fighting Temptations and TV shows such as American Idol.  Naturally, Made You Look Films  soon began  producing its own projects and hiring the same industry professionals who only a few years earlier were Carlos and Dwayne’s professors.

During the 2003 co-production by Made You Look Films of its first SAG feature Veneer, Carlos met Patrick “Parlay” Longworth through Karen Yelverton, an actor involved with the film.  Patrick was invited to become a partner in the company and contributed his extensive knowledge of the entertainment industry and business connections. Patrick has executive produced several music videos and become marketing director for Made You Look Films.  Patrick is also liaison to celebrities and key personnel in Hip-Hop and R&B for the company. With Patrick’s expertise, the company continues to build a diverse portfolio including an A-List crew of production resources.

In early 2003, Made You Look Films was commissioned by Nina Baldridge, who is president of Fast Forward Management and vice president of Tree Sound Studios, to produce a music video for its hard rock artist, “Greedy White Citizens.” The video caught the attention of MTV and VH-1 and Made You Look Films became sought after for high caliber collaborations and music videos for all genres of music. Made You Look Films has excellent connections with some of the country’s top music producers and audio engineers.

In the years following, Made You Look Films produced commercials for  Armani Exchange and Sony Records, music videos for various artists including a sophomore effort for Greedy White Citizens, and marketing videos for companies such as Champs Sports.

In 2005, Carlos wrote and directed a film titled The Test which Carlos and Patrick executive produced. Filmed in Atlanta with Carlos’ signature style, it features brands such as Audi, Apple Computer, Motorola, and portrays a quite unique perspective of Atlanta. The Test stars Selwyn, an Austrailian pop icon and Sony recording artist, and features cameos from techno-king Moby and MC Safire. The film is a prequel to the Spy Eyes movie trilogy and has  developed a cult-like following with minimal advertising, capturing the interest of major distributors and networks.

Carlos' latest film projects include 2 Saints of the Storm, a twenty minute short film submitted to the prestigious HBO Short Film Competition and Maid in America, an action short written, filmed, and edited in two days for the 48 Hour Film Festival.  The company also possesses the rights and options to several award winning screenplays which are currently in development for theatrical release features

Aside from narrative film work, Made You Look Films has significant strength in the TV realm, having produced 9 episodes of Champs Sports TV shown throughout the US and Canada. Made You Look Films has also become the local production company of choice for American Idol, BET Access Granted, BET Music Makers, and Elimidate. TV pilots for To Extremes, an episodic Sci-Fi series, Urban Flavor, a hip-hop cooking show, Almost Famous, a music based reality show and The Master Hunter, a hunting reality show starring Survivor: Thailand winner Brian Heidick, have all been completed and are currently being shopped to networks. Made You Look Films is also collaborating with New York native Sir Ivan Wilzing, the Multi-billionaire philanthropist, and founder of the Peaceman organization. There is currently a TV reality show in development starring Sir Ivan, whom has been featured on VH-1 several times. Sir Ivan is also a recording artist proud to say that his first music video was produced by Made You Look Films with Mr. Ramsey in the director’s chair. The visual FX intensive video is slated for release September 2008.
